I embrace the freedom of abstraction, allowing the intuitive process to guide me, and embracing the unexpected as a catalyst for creativity. These pieces invite viewers to embark on a personal journey, where they can discover their own interpretations and connections. In my abstract works, I explore the interplay of shapes, lines, and textures to create a sense of movement and depth. Each brushstroke and color choice is an expression of my inner world, translating intangible thoughts and emotions into tangible visual forms. Through my abstract and representational paintings, I strive to evoke an emotional and introspective experience for viewers. Invariably some paintings tend to have a connection to the verve and vibrancy of India. I paint as a response to a spontaneous feeling or sheer beauty of a subject, and that is reflected in my choice of diverse subjects, style, techniques and composition. My story is definitely a tale of two states (of mind) - my life as an American and my Indian roots. I’m equally inspired by nature and everyday marvels of colors, textures and light effects that we experience. “My paintings are inspired by places, people and their unique stories. Whether it’s starting a new painting or teaching, Meera believes in approaching it with the same openness, excitement & curiosity of a beginner.
Her paintings are in home collections globally spanning the US, Canada, India, the U.K. Meera's paintings are routinely juried into prominent exhibits in the tri-state area. Meera also volunteers to teach art in a local enrichment program for underserved teens, conducts workshops and teaches painting in lo cal after-school programs. Even as she switched gears/countries, her art practice was a source of inspiration and later began pursuing it full-time as a working creative. A three month youth expedition to China with Raleigh International was a turning point in her life, encouraging her to quit her accounting job in Dubai and enter the field of corporate communications in the U.S. She primarily works with oil, acrylic & mixed media. Self-taught, Meera has been painting for three decades. Meera is a westchester (NY) based artist & art instructor.
